Mahindra’s Born Electric SUVs—BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S—have achieved a remarkable milestone, selling over 50,000 units in just one year. This achievement is even more impressive considering the rapid growth trajectory they’ve maintained since launch.
Rapid Growth and Production Expansion
- Initial Sales: Mahindra sold 30,000 units in seven months, reaching this mark by November 2025.
- Production Boost: By February 2026, sales crossed 41,000, and the company increased production capacity to 8,000 units per month from March 2026.
- Record Sales in March: Mahindra sold a staggering 5,217 Born Electric SUVs in March 2026, a year-on-year jump of 141 percent.
Three Models on One Platform
These three EVs share the INGLO skateboard architecture:
- BE 6: Entry-level model priced from ₹18.90 lakh.
- XEV 9S: Starting at ₹19.95 lakh.
- XEV 9e: Priced from ₹21.90 lakh, offering a certified range of up to 682 km on the 79 kWh battery pack.
The top trim variants dominate sales, with the 79 kWh Pack Three variant accounting for 73 percent of pre-orders.
Attracting New Buyers
Surprisingly, eight out of ten buyers were not existing Mahindra customers, indicating a successful conquest in the EV market.
Charging and Range
- Charging Setup: The BE 6 and XEV 9e support 175 kW DC fast charging, reducing charging time to around 30 minutes on compatible chargers.
- Home and Public Chargers: Mahindra offers free home chargers and public charging credits for early buyers, addressing range anxiety concerns.
- Real-World Range: Owner reports suggest a consistent range of 450–520 km under mixed driving conditions.
Future Expansion
The INGLO platform can accommodate six electric SUV models, with the BE.07 flagship and XEV 4e (starting at ₹13 lakh) in the pipeline for 2027.
